Hydraulic Systems Engineer

May 27, 2026

At Adria Winch you work on real problems with real consequences. Our team of engineers, machinists, welders, and electrical specialists designs and builds equipment that operates in some of the world’s harshest environments — from the North Sea to Arctic waters. Every person here contributes to something that physically leaves the facility and performs for decades at sea.

About the Role

You will design and engineer hydraulic power units and circuit systems for marine winches, A-frames, LARS, and other deck machinery. The role requires strong technical depth in hydraulics and the ability to translate system requirements into reliable, class-approved designs.

Responsibilities

  • Design hydraulic circuits for winch systems, HPUs, and control systems
  • Select hydraulic components (pumps, valves, motors, cylinders) and produce bills of materials
  • Perform flow and pressure calculations; size accumulators, heat exchangers, and filtration
  • Prepare hydraulic schematics and system documentation in accordance with classification rules
  • Coordinate with mechanical and electrical engineers during integration and commissioning
  • Support factory acceptance tests and site commissioning on vessels when required

What We’re Looking For

  • You are fluent in hydraulic fundamentals — load-sensing systems, constant pressure vs. open centre circuits, fail-safe braking logic
  • You are rigorous in documentation and know that a poorly-specified schematic creates problems on the quay
  • You stay current with hydraulic component technology and know the Parker, Bosch Rexroth, and Danfoss portfolios

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong background in hydraulic circuit design and component selection
  • Experience using CAD tools for schematic design (AutoCAD, EPLAN Fluid, or similar)
  • Knowledge of marine hydraulic standards is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for commissioning and sea trials
