New Four Contracts for Ferries Signed with Remontowa Shipyard

Adria Winch has secured a supply agreement to equip four double-ended car passenger ferries being constructed at Remontowa Shipyard in Poland. Each vessel can accommodate up to 120 vehicles and 296 passengers.

The ferries represent an innovative design by LMG Marin, featuring diesel-electric hybrid propulsion. During normal operation entire required power is taken from two battery packs installed on board, with recharging occurring during port stays using fast-charging infrastructure. The owner, Norled, will deploy these vessels along Norway’s coast.

Given space constraints on deck, Adria Winch was selected to provide equipment emphasising efficiency. The contract specifies one hydraulic anchor-wire winch with safety remote anchor-drop function and two hydraulic lightweight capstans featuring 4.5-ton pulling capacity and aluminium construction. Construction of all four vessels was scheduled for completion during 2019.
