Mechanical Design Engineer

May 27, 2026

At Adria Winch you work on real problems with real consequences. Our team of engineers, machinists, welders, and electrical specialists designs and builds equipment that operates in some of the world’s harshest environments — from the North Sea to Arctic waters. Every person here contributes to something that physically leaves the facility and performs for decades at sea.

About the Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Adria Winch, you will be responsible for the engineering and design of winch systems and deck machinery. You will take ownership of projects from concept through to production documentation, working closely with our project managers, production team, and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop winch systems, A-frames, mooring systems, and related deck machinery in SolidWorks or CATIA
  • Produce detailed 3D models, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation
  • Perform structural and load calculations to meet classification society requirements (DNV, BV, LR, ABS)
  • Collaborate with hydraulic and electrical engineers to integrate full system packages
  • Support production during manufacturing and resolve technical issues on the shop floor
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests and client meetings

What We’re Looking For

  • You think in systems — understanding how a winch drum, gearbox, brake, and control system interact is second nature
  • You take ownership — you follow a design from sketch to tested hardware and consider yourself accountable for the result
  • You communicate clearly — with the production team, with clients, and in your documentation
  • You are comfortable in a fast-paced workshop environment and can work in the field when needed

Requirements

  • Degree in Mechanical or Naval Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or CATIA V5/V6
  • Familiarity with welded steel structures and manufacturing processes
  • Experience with marine or offshore equipment is a strong advantage
  • English language proficiency (working language for client communication and documentation)
